March is nutrition awareness month

Is your nutrition up to par? Do you have enough energy to get through your day? Do you sleep well at night? The vast majority of Americans are deficient in one or more critical nutrients. A whopping 95 percent of adults are not getting enough Vitamin D, 90 percent are not getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids, and 68 percent are not getting enough magnesium. The implications are significant with cancer, osteoporosis, muscle loss and auto-immune conditions on the rise. Even if you think you are eating healthy,  you might be surprised to learn that most of our soils are depleted of nutrients on a global scale due to poor farming practices. If you eat any processed foods, then you really have an increased demand for nutrients. They may taste good, but they are not good for you. They leave us feeling hungry and tired.

If you take prescription drugs, you may not be aware that some of the more commonly prescribed medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes can cause deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. If they are not replaced either by whole foods or supplements, it can lead to further health complications. Don’t let that happen. Be informed and work with someone knowledgeable who can guide you.

If you would like to discuss the health impact these deficiencies can cause, and to learn what you can do about it, give me a call at 253-221-1009.  You can also send me an email at: lynnrester@healthyeatingandlifeplans.com and we can set up a time to chat in more detail. I am a National-Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and I offer a FREE consultation to discuss how I can help you make habit changes to improve your diet and lifestyle so you can have the energy to not only get your work done, but have energy left over to play and have fun so you can enjoy your life too!
